Moscow Pushkin Drama Theater became the successor of the Alexander Tairov Chamber Theater, which existed from 1914 to 1949 and was closed for "aesthetics and formalism."

For obvious reasons, Tairov's genre experiments did not correspond to the ideological tasks of the time. And the new theater, opened in 1950 under the direction of Vasily Vanin, was supposed to harmoniously combine the traditions of Russian classics and modern drama. Perhaps this is precisely what the Theater named after. Pushkin and is famous to this day. In the 2013 season, the theater troupe went on an experiment and presented one of the cult plays of the 20th century - "The Good Man from Sesuan" by Bertold Brecht.

The play, which Russian audiences steadily associate with the Taganka Theater, was staged by Yuri Butusov in an ultramodern European manner and became a great breakthrough. The Brecht Theater is an author's theater, non-classical, but the Pushkin troupe was able to cope with it and please the viewer with an unusual work for themselves.
