A floodplain area of about 2 sq. km, surrounding the famous Church of the Intercession on the Nerl in the Vladimir region, has been recognized as a protected area for more than half a century and is protected by the state. The historical and landscape complex Bogolyubovsky meadow is located next to the village of the same name at the confluence of the Nerl and Klyazma rivers. What is the value of this place?

Since the 60s. last century, scientists began to actively explore the flora and fauna of the Bogolyubovsky meadow. It turned out that almost 300 species of rare plants grow here, 4 of which are even included in the Red Book.

By the way, in spring, during the flood, the meadow is completely flooded, only the church remains on land: the fact is that an artificial hill was specially poured several centuries ago for its construction. It looks pretty impressive, but if you still want to walk along a picturesque field and visit an ancient temple, ask in advance if the water has gone away. There are hiking and ecological trails for travelers. The first is a path paved with tiles imitating natural stone, and leads to the church. On the way, you can buy local souvenirs, or rent a boat near the temple. And for the most curious, walks along a 2-kilometer ecological path are suitable.
