The Archangel Michael Monastery, one might say, is the same age as the other main monastery of Yuriev-Polsky - St. George's Cathedral, also built in the 13th century. But unlike its “brother”, the monastery faced many trials. The Archangel Michael Monastery, as historians write, was destroyed as many as four times. The first time he suffered at the hands of Batu Khan himself, in the 14th century Tokhtamysh attacked the monastery, in the next century it was destroyed by the Golden Horde Khan Edigi, and the monastery also suffered a lot during the Time of Troubles.

Despite this, today the Archangel Michael Monastery is in good condition and receives tourists all year round. The abode is easy to find in the city; it stands on the territory of the former Kremlin. Since the Archangel Michael Monastery is active, services are held here, but there are no restrictions for tourists to visit (except for the opening hours of the museum complex).

Along with the Archangel Michael Monastery, within the walls of the Kremlin there are the Znamenskaya Refectory Church, the Gate Church of St. John the Theologian and the St. George Church. You can see these cloisters every day, except Tuesday, from 9.00 to 17.00 hours. The ticket office for the purchase of entrance tickets (there is a small fee for them) is open until 16.00. On Friday, the entrance for tourists to the territory of the monastery is organized from 9.00 to 16.00 hours.

Once here, do not miss the moment and visit the interesting exhibition of carved platbands by the masters of Yuriev-Polsky. Exhibits are usually displayed right on the inside of the Kremlin walls.

In summer, if time permits, take a look at the apothecary garden of the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Monastery. Of course, it is not worth picking flowers and plants, but it will be just right to admire and take some beautiful pictures!
