Seahorse Sculpture in Alushta

"Seahorse" is a sculpture in the city of Alushta in Crimea, a symbol of this resort and one of the favorite places for tourists' photo sessions.

Initially, the sculpture was located near the Alushta aquarium, which installed it there in July 2015. The sculpture was supposed to serve as a landmark and a meeting place. But already in August 2015, local residents asked to move the seahorse to the embankment, believing that there was a more suitable place for photo shoots.

The art object is a forged figure of a seahorse, 2.5 m high, made of stainless steel. Three inscriptions are engraved on the rotating base of the ridge: "Meeting place", "Alushta" and "Alushta aquarium - a gift to the city - 2015". According to the sculptor Alexander Romashenko, the option with the figure of a fish was initially considered, but in the end the entire management of the aquarium came out for the seahorse, considering it more effective. In addition, it was this representative of the Black Sea marine fauna that became one of the first inhabitants of the Alushta aquarium. Water Disaster Museum in Alushta
