At times, you want to emerge from a modern city apartment and plunge into the unhurried atmosphere of a provincial house of the early 20th century. And then the paths lead to the city of Alexandrov, to the Literary and Art Museum of Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaev.

Here from 1915 to 1917. Marina Tsvetaeva often stayed with her younger sister Anastasia. The museum expositions are located in two adjacent wooden houses - Tsvetaevsky and the Lebedevs' house - and are dedicated to the work of the famous Russian poetess and exiled writers of the Soviet era. The museum has a small branch in the village of Lizunovo dedicated to the work of the children's writer A. Musatov.

The exposition of the Tsvetaevsky House is saturated with the poetic atmosphere of the Silver Age and is built on metaphorical images, therefore it is considered a museum-metaphor. Tower of St. Constantine in Feodosia

Pages of history

Arriving at the "Alexander Summer", Tsvetaeva wrote her second book of prose "Smoke, Smoke and Smoke ...". During this period, other writers also visited the poetess: O. Mandelstam, S. Parnok.

In 1982, the bridle of censorship for Soviet writers began to weaken, and the Tsvetaevsky poetry festival was first organized in Aleksandrov. On this wave of freedom of speech, in June 1991, the Marina Tsvetaeva Public Foundation initiated the opening of the first museum dedicated to her, and then handed it over to the city.

Exhibitions and events

The permanent exhibition, spread over 6 rooms, is mesmerizing with its selection of materials and design. Pictures and historical photographs are viewed from stylized walls, and antique furniture and showcases with costumes eloquently convey the mood of the era of pre-revolutionary Russia.

Funds of more than 35 thousand exhibits were collected in just 2 years through donations from charitable marathons, concerts and performances.

The materials cover not only the period of Marina Tsvetaeva's residence here, but also later times, when those who did not fit into the socialist image of the capital were exiled for the 101st km. Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Larisa Bogoraz, Sergei Elpatievsky, Evgenia and Adelaide Hertsyki, Ariadna Efron and many others lived and worked on the land of Alexandrov. Foreign classics who were undesirable to the regime and who ventured to enter the Soviet Union also fell into exile.

One who enters the museum immediately becomes an important person, because personal excursions are held here for each visitor.
