The State Museum of A. S. Pushkin is one of the those large Moscow museums that, in addition to the excellent permanent exhibition, conduct other educational activities.

This Museum appeared in 1957, and now it is a large complex, which strictly speaking, in addition to the main museum of Alexander Pushkin, also includes the Memorial Apartment of Alexander Pushkin and the Memorial Apartment of Alexander Bely on the street. Arbat, I. S. Turgenev Museum on st. Ostozhenka, House-Museum of V. L. Pushkin on the street. Staraya Basmannaya and Exhibition Hall in Denezhny Pereulok.

The main exposition is housed in an old building - the Khrushchev-Seleznev estate, built after the Moscow fire of 1812. The building has now been restored, the decoration of the times of Pushkin - the beginning of the 19th century, has been preserved here, which gives the museum a special atmosphere. The State Museum of A. S. Pushkin contains collections of books, manuscripts, autographs, personal belongings and letters of the poet.

The exposition is devided into 15 rooms. The first two of them are dedicated to two eras - the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th. It contains historical objects and documents, painting , portraits of contemporaries, as well as many editions of books of that time.

The second hall contains Pushkin's original autograph; this is a very rare thing.

The next rooms 3-6 are dedicated to the poet's childhood. Here you can see paintings and documents, and the most interesting thing is everyday things of those times, furniture, objects from the Moscow house of the Pushkins. The exposition provides an opportunity to imagine how the family's life was arranged in those years. These are small rooms.

Next is the main staircase, and behind it begins a series of large halls of the estate, its front "guest" part. Here, halls dedicated to individual works alternate with halls dedicated to a particular period of Pushkin's life. So, hall number 7 is dedicated to his studies at the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, his first years of life in St. Petersburg and his first exiles, Hall number 9 - to his return to Moscow, travel and marriage, halls 12 and 13 - to his trip to the Pugachev places, and hall 15 - to the last years of life. All these rooms contain collections of books, manuscripts, autographs, personal belongings and letters from Pushkin. Documents, books, objects - everything is presented very broadly.

Other halls are dedicated to individual works: Hall number 8 - the novel "Eugene Onegin", Hall number 10 - the story "The Queen of Spades", Hall number 11 - the poem "The Bronze Horseman", and hall 14 - the story "The Captain's Daughter".

These expositions contain objects that make it possible to present the world of the heroes of the works: residents of a rural noble estate, an aristocratic capital mansion or participants in the Pugachev events. There are also exhibits related to the work on each work and its publication. Read this article of Sparrow Hills of Moscow City Russia
